The bushbuck is the most widespread antelope in sub-Saharan Africa, found in a wide range of habitats from forests to riverine thickets. Unlike many other antelope species, bushbuck are mostly solitary and prefer to stay hidden in dense cover rather than out in open herds. They are not picky eaters, feeding on a variety of plant matter including leaves, shoots, fruits, and flowers, taking whatever is within reach.

The bushbuck is often regarded as one of the most dangerous antelope for its size. While generally shy and elusive, it can become aggressive if cornered or threatened. With sharp, spear-like horns and a willingness to defend itself, it has been known to seriously injure predators and, on rare occasions, humans. That said, they usually rely on staying hidden rather than picking a fight.

But don’t worry, this is a polite bushbuck and won't poke you.
