Black Smokey Quartz Crystal Point

Like most things in natures, the sizing of these is a bit subjective. Since the natural world is constrained by neat a neat sizing system, sometime we have to add some what ambiguous sizes here. A quick somewhat general run down of these would be:

Small: 2-3"
Medium: 3-4"
Large: 4-5"
Extra Larger: 5-6"

Some are larger in height while others are larger in width. If you're looking for a particular size or shape, let us know at checkout and we'll do our best to find what you're looking for.

While smoky quartz is somewhat common, its creation is anything but. Smoky quartz is a type of quartz crystal known for its dark, smoky appearance (hints the name). It ranges in color from light to dark brown and even black. The unique coloring comes from radiation that occurs naturally within the Earth’s crust as well as exposure to high temperatures during formation. Nothing like a good dose of radiation to add some color to your crystal collection. It’s been around for centuries, but it wasn’t until recently that scientists had the technology to study its fascinating crystal structure. The gemstone was first described in the 1700s, noted for its resemblance to an opaque smoky color of topaz or chalcedony. It was originally named “smoke stone” due to its uniquely dark hue. In modern times, researchers have studied smoky quartz extensively and have indeed determined the cause of its remarkable colors. The findings have shown that radiation from nearby uranium deposits have  interacted with aluminum within the stone’s chemical composition. This gives it its dusky and clouded appearance. There is a certain mystique about its coloration that we absolutely adore. It’s a cornerstone in any collection and, in our opinion, one simply can not have enough smoky quartz crystals to display. It’s also a must have for those interested in crystal healing. Speaking of which…

According to metaphysics, Smokey Quartz helps ground the holder with the Earth's energies and is good for working with the Root and Solar Plexus Chakras. Use Smokey Quartz to absorb and transmute negative energy. Smokey Quartz can help integrate messages and/or spiritual energy received in higher chakras into the lower chakras and anchor expanded consciousness into the physical body.
