Klipspringer Taxidermy Shoulder Mount

21 x 9 x 9

In Afrikaans, “klipspringer” roughly translates to “rock jumper,” which, as if this thing couldn’t get any cuter, adds a whole other layer to it.

As you might imagine, klipspringers are famous for living on steep, rocky outcrops. They can hop from rock to rock with incredible precision, almost like they’re built for vertical terrain. The nice thing about living in these nearly impossible places is that it keeps them safe from predators, unless those predators are willing to brave the heights with them.

Instead of flat hooves like many animals, they balance on the very tips of their hooves. This gives them extra grip on slippery rock surfaces. Again, very cute. They are adorable, but also incredibly hardy, surviving in harsh, rocky environments. Their coat is dense and coarse, which helps protect them from sharp rocks and temperature swings. Living on rocky outcrops isn’t easy, after all.

This mount is perfect for smaller spaces or as a little buddy for your existing mounts. It almost didn’t make it to the website, as I, the web person, almost decided it needed to be in my own collection. My loss and your gain, really.
