Red Hartebeest Taxidermy Shoulder Mount Specimen A

43 x 17 x 28"

The Red Hartebeest is a big, reddish-fawn antelope with a sloping back and a long, narrow face. Both males and females have heavily ringed horns. Out of the twelve subspecies found in Africa, the Red Hartebeest is the only one that lives in South Africa. People used to think its name came from the heart-shaped curve of its horns, but now it’s believed to come from the Dutch words hert (deer) and beest (beast). Early Boers called it hartebeest because they thought it looked a bit like a deer. In Afrikaans, it’s spelled hertebeest.

Important Shipping Info For Oversized Items:

Please Note: Oversized items like this do not qualify for the free shipping discount.

For more information about our shipping policies, please see our shipping page.

Please note:  We will do our best to ship via conventional methods, but some mounts are just too big for carriers to handle safely.

For Conventional: We will work to find you the best shipping rate and invoice you once it’s determined. Our in-house rates are typically lower than what you’d find at your local shipping store, as we regularly send out packages. Once your item is packed and ready, we’ll invoice you for the shipping. If the cost is more than you’re comfortable with, you can cancel your order at no charge.

Non-Conventional: If we are unable to ship via conventional methods, we recommend a taxidermy-specific carrier called Trophy Transport. Once purchased, we ask that you reach out to them to arrange shipping. After that is done, we will work out the logistics and pickup with them.

We can also work with another carrier of your choice, but for taxidermy, they are generally the best and most affordable option since they do not need to crate the piece which is expensive.
